Writing/directing credits include film noir featurette Reflections of a Private Eye, now available on Amazon Video, and commissioned documentary The Future Workplace, shown in three cities as part of the 2019 Architecture Fringe. Shooting the silent rom-com Fertility Daze (which won the Greenlight Script Pitch in 2017) sparked a love of silent film that led to the homemade shorts Night Terror and Biscuit Thief.
Alongside promotional campaigns, web content and music videos, Gunn is adept at digital storytelling and frequently collaborates with his wife, professional storyteller Daiva Ivanauskaitė. One of their films has been featured on Lithuanian television. Another was used to promote the Baltic Storytelling Festival.
Creative Facilitation and Events
Gunn is experienced leading young people in a creative setting within schools, clubs and community centres – facilitating story development, arts and crafts, and working with smartphones, DSLRs and sound equipment.
For adults, he has created and hosted workshops on screenwriting, cinematic storytelling and low-budget producing – these have been held at BBC Scotland, CCA Glasgow, GMAC Film, the Glasgow Short Film Festival and the Southside Film Festival and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both beginners and industry professionals.
He has also organised, produced and participated in several anthology filmmaking challenges with the Glasgow Film Crew, and hosted film screenings and events for festivals and film societies. Highlights include interviewing graphic artist and filmmaker Joann Sfar at the French Film Festival in 2015, and organising the Women in Media panel discussion for International Women's Day in 2018.
Screenwriting and Script Consultancy
Gunn is a writer for hire, and since 2012 has also consulted on screenplays of all lengths for beginners and industry professionals alike. He provides this service to non-professionals on a pay-what-you-can-afford basis.
