Video Diary

In mid-June 2020 I decided spontaneously to keep a video diary for at least a year.

My arbitrary rules: one shot per day, no more than two minutes per week, no context other than date.

The idea was not just to have a video scrapbook but to sharpen my filmmaking skills. Not only would I have to be ready to shoot something each day, I'd have to find a subject and composition that interested me even when my day did not seem particularly interesting. And I'd have to resist repeating myself unless repeating myself was the point.

I began with a 24mm lens on my Sony a7iii, cropped to 2.40:1 because I love that shape of frame. As time goes on I'll try other looks and see what I can do with the form.
